• Peace program design

I have advised programs in Vietnam, Philippines, Nepal and Sudan among others in peacebuilding and conflict transformation. Here I am visiting peacebuilders in Pakistan.

I bring all my accumulated life experience to the task of imaging how peace can 'break out.' I am a big picture thinker and generalist having lived fifteen years outside the US, I have a fascination with things technical and the practical 'horse sense' to make things work. All this serves to broaden out peace program design to something connected to all aspects of life.

  • Monitoring and evaluation

I was a Bantay Ceasefire member investigating breeches in the MILF/GRP ceasefire agreement in Mindanao.

Field monitoring and program evaluation are critical to my understanding of the theoretical aspects of peacebuilding. I strive to have as much 'field' time as possible, getting into situations where local peacebuilders are trying to make a difference for peace.

  • Conflict transformation education

Deng Giguiento and I have co-facilitated classes since 2003.

I have an educator's heart wishing to create a learning environment that values the life experiences of students. I have been shaped by the the Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute (MPI) which has been successful since the year 2000 to teach over 1200 peacebuilders in the Asia/Pacific region.

  • Nonviolence training

Visitting with Glory Vijaykumar in Tamil Nadu, India

I hold a firm commitment to nonviolence based the teaching of Jesus through an Anabaptist faith tradition. I don't seek to impress these values on others but rather use them as a springboard to accessing understanding and truths of other faiths. From this understanding I seek to create a training environment that is active, practical, successful and grounded.

  • Technical services

I enjoy operating morse code from my amateur radio station, K3QF.

With electronics technology training, an interest in amateur radio, computer technologies and solar energy, I am able to provide technical assistance and advice to rural programs challenged with infrastructural constraints.
